Rotary District 7475 welcomed 20 students from Japan’s District 2670 for a day of global learning at the United Nations and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Now in its 48th year, this Youth Exchange partnership continues to build friendships, cultural understanding, and the kind of connections that help young people see the world—and one another—differently.

Young Minds. Global Connections.

Today was one of those Rotary Youth Exchange days that reminds us why this program matters.

Our visiting students from Japan spent August 10 experiencing two remarkable places in New York City—the United Nations and The Museum of Modern Art.

At the United Nations, they entered a place built around cooperation, dialogue, peace, and international understanding.

Then came MoMA, where art offered another way to experience different cultures, ideas, and ways of seeing the world.

Two very different places.

One powerful lesson:

The more we understand one another, the smaller the world becomes.

These 20 students are visiting New Jersey as part of the 48th year of the Rotary Youth Exchange partnership between District 7475 and Japan’s District 2670.

But this exchange is about much more than the places they visit.

It is about the families opening their homes.

The Rotarians giving their time.

The conversations happening around dinner tables.

The friendships growing between young people from different parts of the world.

And the memories they will carry home.

For nearly five decades, this program has helped young people discover something Rotary has always understood:

You do not build peace by staying separated from one another.

You build it by meeting.

Listening.

Learning.

Sharing.

And sometimes simply spending a day together seeing the world through new eyes.

Today, that happened at the United Nations and MoMA.

Tomorrow, the journey continues.
